Top 7 Irrfan khan movies you shouldn’t miss

Saahabzaade Irrfan Ali Khan, born on January 6, 1966 passed away on April 29 in Mumbai, fighting colon cancer. The silent expression hero left his lasting impressions not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood and British Films.

Here’s a list of 7 of his finest movies (though it hard to pick 7) I am planning to watch over the weekend to enjoy some of his finest work and remind myself of his greatness in front of a camera.

  1. Life Of Pie – I love this one because Mr. Khan narrates how he survived a deadly situation at sea with a Bengal Tiger as his only partner. It is an internationally acclaimed movie which set a milestone.

2. Piku – Mr. Khan shared screen with the Great Amitabh Bachchan and gorgeous Deepika Padukone, these three legends worked together and made Piku a mega hit. The story is about a nagging Bengali father and his daughter’s road trip journey where Mr. Khan plays a role of a cab driver. Enjoy this light hearted movie with a couple of amazing life lessons.

3. The Lunchbox – Mr. Khan just stole the hearts of the audiences by his natural acting in this movie. He played a role of widower who fell in a special relationship with a housewife. The special relationship was made via letters inside a lunchbox which was wrongly delivered to him by a lunchbox service company.

I can’t stop writing about Mr. Khan’s extraordinary and exceptional contribution of acting into the film industry. Movies like Talvar (2015), Saheb Biwi aur Gangster (2013), The Warrior (2001), Life in a Metro (2007), Billu (2009), Jurassic World 4 will love forever with us.

In the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye” – Irrfan Khan from the movie Life of Pie.

Rishi Kapoor (Chintoo – the ‘lover boy’ of bollywood) dies of Cancer

“He’s gone. I’m destroyed” – Amitabh Bachchan in his latest tweet on the death of his long time friend Rishi Kapoor.

It is another sad day. One of Bollywood’s most versatile actors, loved across generations, Rishi Kapoor is no more. He was keeping unwell for a while and was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday, April 29, where he took his last breath. His wife (and the love of his life) Neetu Singh and his son (one of the most popular Bollywood actors of this generation) Ranbir Kapoor were with him during his last moments.

He belonged to ‘The Kapoor Family’ of Bollywood, and carried the torch from the likes of Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor. His cousin brothers Randheer kapoor and Shashi kapoor have also been noted actors of their time.

Rishi Kapoor was shooting for ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’ in Delhi earlier this year when he felt unwell and was later moved to a hospital in Mumbai. Reports suggest that the main cause of his death was cancer relapse. He had undergone a treatment for this cancer in New York. He went there in Sep 2018 and the treatment took almost a year.

He brought magic, charm and a refreshed energy into Bollywood movies in the 70s via his exceptional performances in movies like Bobby (debut), Karz, Chandni, Amar Akbar Anthony. He made a comeback to the movie industry after a long gap in the 2000s and started taking up challenging roles of negative characters and proved his mettle as a versatile actor. His work as Rauf Lala in the remake of Agneepath (starring Hrithik Roshan) will be remembered for generations.

I grew up watching Rishi Kapoor movies and can watch Chandni, and Kapoor & Sons anytime. Both of these movies show how dynamic, and natural he was in the world of acting. To me, Bollywood has lost a legend, an actor who introduced and in a way, redefined romance in Bollywood. The colorful sweater wearing personality suited his charisma.

You’ll live forever in our hearts, Rishi ji. RIP.

Wings down today as well,

My Reflection on the sad news of Irrfan Khan’s demise (Updated quote from Life of Pi)

“The whole of life becomes an act of letting go. What hurts the most is not taking a moment to say Good-bye”

Late Irrfan Khan (Jan 1967 – Apr 2020) – Quote from the movie ‘Life of Pi’

This great asset to the Indian film industry passed away today at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He was admitted in the hospital yesterday, 28th April to seek treatment for his colon infection. Mr. Khan had been battling from Colon Cancer, he was diagnosed with a neuro-endocrine disorder in the year 2018. He was surrounded by his family during his last stage, his wife Sutapa Sikdar and 2 sons Babil and Ayan.

He was one of the finest actors in Bollywood and Hollywood, and had also won a Padma Shri Award. As they say, he was a man with silent expression and deep eyes., a few words from the official quote. He was diagnosed with cancer in March 2018 and underwent treatment and chemotherapy and was recovered. He wanted his fans to be aware of his illness so he tweeted “The unexpected makes us grow”.

Mr. Khan was a charm of Bollywood and he was last seen in the movie, Angrezi Medium. He wasn’t a part of the promotion because of the health and rather spoke to his fans via a video message ahead of the trailer of the film. This post is simply a tribute to him, some of his finest works and to act as a remembrance for years to come. Here’s some of my favorite where he was at his finest charisma and enthralled the audience with his performances.

  1. Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
  2. Life of Pie (2012)
  3. The Lunchbox (2013)
  4. Jurassic World (2015)
  5. Piku (2015)

As Priyanka Chopra said, “the charisma he bought to everything he did was pure magic”, Slumdog Millionaire director, Danny Boyle, described his work in the oscar winning movie as “beautiful to watch”.
It is a very sad day for the entire Film Industry. The void created by his death can never be filled. RIP, Sir.
